Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using Small Voice. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If something doesn't make sense, reach out to us at support@smallvoice.app and we'll explain it.

What Small Voice is

Small Voice is a spiritual formation app designed to help Christians develop a personal relationship with God. Users write brief, honest entries addressed to God throughout their day. The app uses AI to help users notice patterns over time — answered prayers, recurring themes, and evidence that God has been present and active.

Small Voice is not a church, counseling service, or spiritual authority. It is a tool. It is designed to point you toward God, not replace your relationship with Him.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Small Voice. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission before creating an account. By using the app, you confirm that the information you provide when signing up is accurate.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. Don't share your password with others. If you think your account has been compromised, contact us right away. You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.

Your writing

Your journal entries are yours. We do not claim ownership over what you write. We do not sell your data to advertisers.

Your entries are processed by third-party AI services to generate material that serves you — patterns, forgotten answered prayers, relevant Scripture. We choose providers who treat your data with care and do not use it to train their models without consent.

You agree not to use Small Voice to post content that harasses or threatens other people, violates anyone else's privacy or intellectual property, or is illegal under applicable law. Small Voice is a personal app, not a public platform. Your entries are private by default.

Subscriptions and payment

Small Voice is offered on a monthly subscription, priced as shown in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

Payment is taken by Apple or Google through your app store account. We do not process or store your payment details. Cancel any time in your app store account settings; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us. If something has gone wrong, reach out anyway and we will help where we can.

Access granted without payment

We may, at our discretion, grant access to Small Voice without payment — including to people who tell us they cannot afford a subscription. We do not ask for proof, and we do not treat those accounts differently within the app.

Access granted this way is a gift, not a purchase. It creates no contract of sale, confers no purchase or refund rights, and may be varied, limited, or withdrawn by us at any time, with or without notice. It may differ from the paid service in the AI models used to process your entries, which affects how detailed the generated material is.

We are not collecting money from users to fund other users' access, and no part of a subscription is presented as a donation.

What the AI does and doesn't do

The AI in Small Voice generates text and images from your own journal entries. It is a tool for reflection, not a substitute for your own discernment or your relationship with God.

Material generated by the app is not prophecy, spiritual authority, or guaranteed truth. It is not counselling, medical advice, or a substitute for pastoral care, professional help, or your local church. It can be wrong. You are responsible for how you apply it to your life.

We have worked hard to ensure the AI operates within a biblical framework, but we are not infallible, and neither is any software. Bring everything to God directly. The app is meant to help you do that more, not less.

Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. We have a separate Privacy Policy that explains in plain language what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. You can find it in the app or at smallvoice.app/privacy. The short version: we collect what we need to run the app, we do not sell your data, and your journal entries are private.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by writing to support@smallvoice.app.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your journal entries, and the material the app generated from them. This is permanent and cannot be undone — we cannot recover deleted entries, so keep a copy of anything you want to keep before you delete.

Some information may remain for a limited period afterwards: in routine encrypted backups until those expire on their normal cycle, and in records we are required to keep by law, such as billing and tax records. We do not use anything retained this way for any other purpose.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google. Cancel that separately in your app store account settings, or you may continue to be charged.

Changes to the app and these terms

We may update, add, or remove features over time. We will do our best to communicate significant changes in advance. Continued use of Small Voice after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. We also reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

Liability

Small Voice is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it running well, but we cannot guarantee the app will always be available or error-free.

To the extent permitted by law, Small Voice and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the issue arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability in ways that are not permitted by law in your jurisdiction.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
